DALLAS DESIGN WEEK

Last week in Dallas it was Dallas Design Week at Dallas Market Center.   Interior designers, decorators, and industry professionals from across our region and beyond flocked to this event to see the latest in design from numerous sources and showrooms.  Not only did we get to see and learn about amazing products for our clients, but we heard from numerous seasoned professionals that have been involved in all aspects of design from interior design, product design, manufacturing, licensing, and social media. There was so much to see and learn!  If I took pictures of everything I saw, I would still be there!  I did take a few to share so that you could have a small taste of what I saw.

Early Morning Walk Before Heading to Dallas Design Week

Sherwin Williams presented their color forecast for 2020 during a luncheon which had at least 400 attendees.  I have been to every single one over the years, and this one is at the top of my list.  The colors were beautiful, but what made it my favorite was the overall feeling and mood of the presentation.  Just to give you an insight, the entire room of attendees did five minutes of meditation before the actual presentation.  We were supposed to close our eyes and imagine what the speaker was saying, but I was a bit hungry and cheated.  I wasn’t alone in cheating!  How on earth can you ask 400 designers, who are creatives and naturally a bit A.D.D. close their eyes and sit still with all that glorious food right there in front of us?!  Some of the mediation sunk in, because I was relaxed during the actual color presentation.   On top of that, the food was amazing!

In the atrium of the World Trade Center building, there were several vignettes with furniture, rugs, art, and accessories.  This was an opportunity to see products from manufacturers or showrooms we had not see before, or just admire some of our favorites. I took a few images here, but only ones that stood out to me.

I sat in on a learning presentation for a furniture company that will customize furniture almost anyway you could imagine.  You pick from a menu of shapes, styles, and finishes to build your piece how ever you want.  Modern, traditional, or transitional styles are available.  Or if you want eclectic, mix modern legs or base or a traditional top.  It's all up to you!  I can't wait to build the perfect table and buffet for a lucky client!

So many visually stimulating showrooms!  Are you blue or green?  I have done a lot of these very saturated colors the last few years in my design projects.   You may recognize a few things!  Just can't get enough it!

It's an enjoyable experience as an interior designer to attend these events.  Taking time out from the usual schedule is not easy.  It's an incredible amount of walking, collecting information for future reference, and listening to all the wonderful speakers.  As a Dallas interior designer, I am very fortunate to have this resource so easily available to me and grateful for it.

I do it all for you!!   I hope you enjoy the images!

Terry: this was a great wrap up post! I enjoyed seeing it through your eyes and reading about how Sherwin Williams had you all do 5 minutes of meditation before their presentation. That was a nice idea.

Also, thanks for attending my preso at #DallasDesignWeek on the last day: it was so nice to have you there and I hope, now, to see some links in your future posts where I can buy, from your post, some of these gorgeous items you are mentioning!

Wow, love that Sherwin Williams asked everyone to meditate. It goes perfectly with the names of their color collections. Love those rugs and the idea of designing furniture just how you want it!

I was not able to attend, so thank you for sharing what inspired you. I went to one spring Desig Week a few years ago and loved it! How cool that Sherwin Williams had you meditate. But I'm with you on the great food. Beautiful, inspiring images!

Sounds like a great event. Love the Dallas market, I try to get up there at least once a year.

Great post! We just had our design market here in Boston too. I love that line of completely customizable tables and all your beautiful images...including that Christmas tree! I did those colors for a holiday client last year and it's been one of my favorite combinations! Thanks for sharing!
